EmbPay
The honest comparison

EmbPay vs Gumroad: a percentage of every sale, or none.

Gumroad charges 10% + $0.50 on each direct sale and 30% on sales through its Discover marketplace, with no monthly fee (their pricing page, read 8 September 2026). EmbPay charges a 0% platform fee on every plan, including the free one; each sale is a direct charge on your own Stripe account and the only per-sale cost is Stripe's own processing fee.

The arithmetic

What a $50 sale costs you on each.

Platform fee only. Payment processing is charged by the processor in every case; Gumroad's page does not say whether it is inside their percentage, so we don't say either.

Gumroad, direct sale

10% + $0.50 of a $50 sale, per gumroad.com/pricing

$5.50

Gumroad, sale via Discover

30% of a $50 sale, per gumroad.com/pricing

$15.00

EmbPay, any plan

0% platform fee. Stripe bills you its own processing fee (usually 2.9% + 30¢, about $1.75 here) directly, exactly as it would on any Stripe integration.

What EmbPay includes

On the free plan, not just the paid ones.

Every item here is enforced in code, not in copy: none of it is gated by plan.

Licence keys for software are on the Pro plan ($29/month) and API keys on Scale ($79/month). Full detail on the pricing page.

Where EmbPay falls short

The part of the comparison we would rather you read here.

Gumroad is a marketplace with its own audience and a decade of history; EmbPay is a checkout that lives on your own site and sends buyers to your own Stripe. If any of these matter to you, Gumroad may be the better fit today.

No white-label

Your checkout carries your branding, but EmbPay's name is on the receipt and the customer portal. If you need the platform invisible, we're not it yet.

No custom domain

Checkout pages live on embpay.com, not on checkout.yourbrand.com.

No team accounts

One login per account. There are no seats, roles or permissions to hand a contractor a limited key.

API keys are Scale-only

Building your own integration on top of EmbPay costs $79/month. Webhooks out are on every plan.

Five currencies in the dashboard

USD, EUR, GBP, CAD and AUD in the product form. The API takes any Stripe-supported code, but the dashboard list is short and we'd rather say so than imply otherwise.

Support is email, and it's the same email on every plan

There is no priority queue and no dedicated manager, because there is no second queue to be prioritised over. Paying more does not move you up it.

Keep the whole sale. Try the free plan.

No card required. Connect your own Stripe account when you are ready to be paid.
