Effective rate 3.50%. The fixed part of Stripe's fee is why small prices lose a bigger share: on a $5.00 sale the same card costs 8.9%.
Stripe's standard published rates for United States, read from stripe.com/pricing on 16 September 2026. Your account may have different pricing; Stripe's dashboard is the source of truth for what you actually pay. Refunds return the sale amount to the buyer but Stripe does not return its fee.

Does EmbPay add anything on top of Stripe's fee?
No. The platform fee is 0% on every plan, including free. Each sale is a direct charge on your own Stripe account, so Stripe bills you its processing fee under your own agreement and EmbPay never touches the money.
Why is the fee a percentage plus a fixed amount?
The fixed part covers the cost of processing any transaction regardless of size; the percentage scales with the amount. The combination means small sales pay a much higher effective rate than large ones, which is worth knowing before you price a product at a dollar or two.
What counts as an international card?
A card issued in a different country from your Stripe account. Stripe adds a surcharge for those, and a further percentage if it has to convert the currency. Where the buyer lives does not matter; where their card was issued does.
Do I get the fee back on a refund?
No. Stripe returns the sale amount to the buyer and keeps its processing fee. A refunded sale therefore costs you the fee. EmbPay refunds are real Stripe refunds, full or partial, and the same rule applies.
Are these the rates I will actually pay?
They are Stripe's standard published rates for three markets, read on the date shown. Accounts with negotiated pricing, other countries, and non-card payment methods differ. Your Stripe dashboard shows what you actually pay.
