Order bumps and one-click upsells

Add up to five bumps at checkout and a branching upsell funnel after the payment, on every plan including free.

Bumps and upsells are the two ways EmbPay raises an order's value, and both are included on every plan, including the free one.

Order bumps

A bump is a tick-box add-on shown on the checkout itself. Each product can carry up to five. For each one you choose the product to offer — any of your own active one-time products — plus a headline, an optional description, and optionally a different price from the product's own.

Three rules control when a bump appears:

  • Pre-selected — the box starts ticked, so the buyer opts out rather than in.
  • Hide if already owned — the bump disappears for a buyer who has bought that product before.
  • Show only to existing customers — the bump stays hidden unless the buyer already owns one of the products you list.

“Already owned” means a completed, non-test order under the same email address, matched without regard to case. Because a buyer has not identified themselves when the page first loads, history-based bumps start hidden and appear once an email is typed. Ownership is checked again on the server when the charge is made, so a bump that was hidden can never be bought by editing the page.

One-click upsells

An upsell is offered immediately after a successful payment, on the same page. The buyer sees a “Wait! One-time offer” banner and can accept with a single click, which charges the card they just used — the caption says so plainly rather than implying the offer is free to accept.

Declining is a route, not an end: a funnel can branch, sending an accept down one path and a decline down another, up to eight steps deep. Offers stay open for one hour from the original order; after that an attempt to accept returns “This offer has expired”.

How they appear in your orders

A bump becomes a line item on the same order as the main product. An accepted upsell or downsell becomes a separate order linked to the original, with its own payment. That distinction matters when you reconcile: one purchase with two upsells is three orders, not one.

Still stuck?

Email support@embpay.com. It is the same address on every plan — there is no priority queue to be prioritised over. If something on this page disagrees with what the product does, that is a bug in this page and we want to hear about it.
