Rehearsing a purchase with test mode

Switch a product to test mode to walk through your own checkout end to end without a real charge, and know exactly what still happens for real.

Test mode is a per-product switch in the product editor, under a card labelled Test Mode. With it on you can buy your own product and see exactly what a customer sees, without money moving.

What does not happen

  • No real charge. Test purchases run against test payment credentials, not your connected Stripe account.
  • No subscription record is created, so a rehearsal never appears in your subscriptions list or gets chased by dunning emails.
  • No order bumps, upsells or downsells are offered.
  • No abandoned-cart record and no affiliate commission.
  • Nothing counts towards your dashboard statistics, analytics or exports, and test products are kept out of search results and the sitemap.

What does still happen

This is the part worth reading twice. A test purchase creates a real order in your orders list, issues a real licence key if the product uses them, generates a working download link, and sends a real confirmation email — with the product name prefixed “[TEST] ”.

So use an address you control. A rehearsal sent to a customer's address will arrive in their inbox looking much like a real receipt.

Going live

Untick the box. There is no separate go-live step and no cleanup: the test orders stay in your list, the keys they issued keep working, and the emails they sent have already gone. If a rehearsal issued a licence key you do not want honoured, deal with it before you launch.

Still stuck?

Email support@embpay.com. It is the same address on every plan — there is no priority queue to be prioritised over. If something on this page disagrees with what the product does, that is a bug in this page and we want to hear about it.
